Mister Punkh (1977-2019)
by Simon Parker
Hundreds of kids there were,
looking back.
United! Ignited!
On the attack!
Railing at Tories,
their elders, the dole,
hungry for purpose,
for answers, a goal.
We chose music:
three chords, never more,
The usual topics:
love, hate and war.
Dance floor, pogo,
lyrics that curse,
Thrash it! Thrash it!
Verse-chorus-verse.
Mister Punkh is a punk parable, an epic poem of rebellion – then and now.
